McHotty

Finally got my act together and went in to see an oral surgeon a couple of weeks ago. The surgeon himself was quite nice, ran through the entire process with me, and then I was left with the business manager. Yeah, not a fan. She was patronizing, trying to be friendly by giving me examples of why I was considering surgery, yada yada. Just talked too much. I left the office with a sour taste. She also encouraged me to change my insurance plan, so that I would have coverage for that particular surgeon. He was not part of any network and therefore, most of the insurance plans my company has would have been only 80% coverage. Yeah, no. PLUS, the consultation itself was $150 – outrageous! Especially since it consisted of him telling me what I already knew and the business manager just annoying me for 30 minutes.

So I decided to get my records out of there and seek a surgeon within my own network.

After all the traveling around the country for work, I set up an appointment with a surgeon in my network. The appointment was today. It felt like he didn’t examine me as extensively as the first surgeon I went to see, but apparently – the process requires that my case be studied by a group of ~10 specialists (surgeons and orthodontists) to get their input as to how he should proceed. Kinda neat. It’s a teaching hospital, so I guess it runs a little bit differently. I might actually prefer this. All those second opinions can’t be completely bad, yea?

And since they are covered by my insurance (fingers crossed on this one), I’m a little less worried. $40 for the visit today. Just don’t want to go through the hassle of switching and still not getting coverage.

ANYWAY, on to the subject of this entry – the oral surgeon had an assistant of sorts. I’m assuming he was a resident? They called him Dr. also. Eye candy. I didn’t mind that he had to take my mold more than once! A definite McHotty. *swoon*

I hear from the surgeon next month after Spain. Then, it will be the beginning of the end… Teeth extraction, braces, the works.

Clear Blue Sky.

Seems like I haven’t spent very much time at home lately. Two short weeks in between the two Idaho trips, and just a few more weeks to Spain. I just got back from DC. My coworker and I arrived around 6pm, had dinner in Georgetown, and then checked out the monuments at night (Lincoln, Jefferson, Korean War, and FDR). The very next morning, a six-hour training session before running out to see the monuments during the day (WWII, Washington, White House).

I think something is up with my camera. Not sure if you will notice on this photo, but there’s a white circle that I think represents the lens that shows up on a lot of photos when I zoom in too much. What’s up with that? I hope it doesn’t mean bad news for the camera.

Stranded?

At the very last minute, I found out that my accommodations for this weekend are no longer set. What a bummer to find this out a day before having to drive out.

I am still driving out to Jackson since my flight on Sunday is from that airport. Just a little annoyed that if I had known early on, I could’ve switched up my flights and either gone home early or head out to DC early. Yeah, I have to be in DC on Monday. Then, less than 24 hours after arriving in DC, I will be back on a plane heading the other direction.

So I guess this weekend, I am either motelling or hostelling it. WOO. Guess it doesn’t hurt to have a little adventure on the side. Completely unexpected.

Friday’s Feast – 05/04/2007

Appetizer: Name something you would not want to own.

Granny panties! Sorry that was the first thing to come to mind.

Soup: Describe your hair (texture, color, length, etc.).

Mostly black, hints of brown when in the sun. Not particularly thick or thin, although it seems like I have a whole lot of it. I shed and shed, and yet I am nowhere near bald. THANK GOODNESS. It is now down past my shoulders, and I’d like to cut it some day and maybe get some bangs as well. My hair tends to get frizzy.

Salad: Finish this sentence: I’ll never forget ___________.

You.

Main Course: Which famous person would you like to be for one day? Why?

That’s a tough one. I might never have an answer to that one.

Dessert: Write one sentence about yourself that includes one thing that is true and another thing that is not.

I am so excited about my upcoming trip to Spain [true] alone [false]!

Gift from the Past?

My horoscope this week says:

Through a tip from one of my readers, I discovered that the California State Division of Unclaimed Property was holding $405.85 for me from a class action lawsuit settled 15 years ago. The agency had a very old address on file, and didn’t know how to get in touch with me. I contacted them, and am now a bit richer. I predict you will experience a comparable event in the coming week. It’s possible that like me, you’ll gain possession of a resource you didn’t even know has been yours. Or maybe you’ll inherit your great-uncle’s coin collection or be reunited with a dream you lost track of. In one way or another, Libra, I believe the past will give you a gift.

I’m wondering if they’re referring to the fact that my Pre-Tax Transportation/Parking Flexible Spending balance from 2006 has finally been carried forward to 2007, and now I can collect on that. WOOT.
