RVA Summer Camp : Summer Log Book

06.18.2010 · Posted in Red Velvet Summer Camp

The first project of the Red Velvet Summer Camp was a summer log book.

The reason I chose to participate in this online summer camp was to gain more experience with DIY crafts. The program consists of instruction via blog + blog photos, as well as a few chats, related to thirty crafty projects. It is to be completed at your own pace, so if it takes longer than the lessons posted, that’s a-okay! There aren’t enough hours in the day for me to get all the extracurriculars done, but I can’t help adding more and more to the list.

For this project, I strayed away from the instructions slightly when it came to the cover. I added extra layers of foam between the cardboard used for the front and back covers and the fabric that would hold it all together. Rather than a flat front and back cover, they’re slightly padded. I didn’t have letter tiles, so I just settled for writing in the title.

Here is my travel-themed summer log book:

It turned out a little messier than I had hoped, but it still looks okay and functions well. I love the travel-themed paper pad I found for this project!

I’m looking forward to seeing what else these ladies have in store for the class. I’m already several projects behind, but since it’s at my own pace, WHATEVER!
