All this counting down to when I can eat again, and I knew it would be too good to be true. I received a message yesterday. It was the oral surgeon’s office calling to reschedule. Of course, they don’t just call my cell phone, so I get the message right away. Instead, I have to call back on Monday.

So not fair.

This will surely result in a delay of splint removal. I’m hoping it’s not for more than a week because the Lunar New Year approaches. That means family feasts. I’ll need time to reacquaint my jaw to that chewing motion.

It’s a roller coaster. Bad news. Good news. Bad news. Back to the bad news, it seems. I was able to finally get a hold of a scheduler at the hospital. They know who I am – the annoying girl who keeps following up with her appointment? At least call me back to let me know my status! Apparently, there’s nothing available in the next month or two. That’s fine, but please just tell me. When I asked about when the next available appointment would be, so that I could start planning, she said probably November. There’s also one opening in October, which I wonder why she didn’t schedule me for. She would call me to let me know if anyone canceled in the rest of October.

This is beyond frustrating. I’m fine with a later appointment date, but I’d at least like to know. I don’t know what to do at this point.

Yes, you were JUST about to call me to let me know that the schedule had changed and that I’d have to move my appointment. It was just a coincidence that I called in to find out about whether or not I could fly immediately afterwards. Right… I guess I shouldn’t be upset, considering the original appointment date s a little over a month from now. But I did go through the hassle of scheduling everything else around it, so I’m irked.

I’m in and out of town all through June. The only rescheduling I could accommodate for was to move my appointment up one day to a Thursday. Great – have to coordinate that with work AND my oral surgeon consultation.

It’s not that it can’t be done. It’s just annoying!
