Car shopping SUCKS!
I HATE the process of buying a car. If it were up to me, I’d design the car online, negotiate a price, and BAM! The car shows up at my door. But no, it just doesn’t work that way, especially if you’re a cheapo like me. Prices have to be talked down and up and around before I even budge. My car’s fairly new – a 2004 Matrix, but my mom has an old school Corolla. It’s about 20 years old, and it’s the kind that basically came off the same line as the Chevy Nova. So I was really shopping for the both of us.
Anyway, the salesman was basically trying to get me to take this one car off their hands. It was decently priced, and there was only one of that particular package. If it had been any other color, I might be driving a different car today, but no – it was that awful “I’ve just gotten my teeth bleached” white. Some people might like it, but I prefer not to see the scrapes and stains right away. :p Plus, the guy kept telling me how “smart” it looked. WHATEVER. Every other car of this model on the lot was of a different package, and therefore significantly more expensive than this one. And for some reason, he wanted me to believe that no other dealer in the area would have a similar car/package of a different color. (We checked later, and there were others in nearby cities.) Long story short, he was basically just trying to get the car in the ad off the lots, so that when the next guy came in looking for the deal, he could try to sell them the better packages.
Time-consuming, and the aftertaste is horrific. Even after telling the guy that I wanted to go home and think about it, he invited me inside to fill out paperwork. Then, he goes on and on about what your dream car would be, and he’ll try to find it, but then he can’t offer a good deal on it. I told him again that I wanted to think about it at home, which basically meant, “Okay, already! Let me leave!” He continued on about how the deal is such a good one and that someone else will probably take advantage of it. At this point, I was giving him the look of death, according to my sister. LOL. Leaving the lot, all I can think about are all the possible things the salesperson lied to me about. I’m glad I just walked away. I’m not exactly in a rush to buy anyway!
